How to advocate for change with the Sustainable Development Goals
Blog

Have you ever heard about the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the United Nations (UN)? The SDGs are 17 interlinked goals set up in 2015 and to be achieved in 2030 that aim to transform the world by promoting prosperity while protecting the planet. You can find the 2021 Report (in dashboard format) here.

As data scientists, geospatial students, and engaged citizens, we can take advantage of the Open SDG Data Hub to explore, analyse, monitor, and advocate for change. There is also an API available for you to use when going down that route.

Don't know where to start? ArcGIS provides a Learning Path to Mapping SDGs. You may then be inspired to showcase your country's progress towards achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals in the same way the Government of Ireland had done on this website.
